The same stores offer few, if any, healthy alternatives. The snack products are often displayed close to the counter, increasing the chance of last minute purchase, which equals more money for the seller and more calories for the customer. 96% of pharmacies offered energy dense snacks – and diet shakes, sending out mixed messages that we should indulge but at the same time also lose weight.

Unilever suspects that their diet drink ‘slim fast’ might possible contain the bacteria Bacillus cereus ABC and several newspapers reports today. The bacteria is non-fatal, but causes severe nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. It is more known from contaminated fried rice at Mexican and Asian restaurants, and stands for 2-5% of food poisoning. The financial loss is estimated to be around 5-60 million dollars if all cans are to be replaced.
