Food poisoning from pet-frogs
From June to November a salmonella outbreak has made at least 49 people sick. Most likely the source of the salmonella comes from pet-frogs, as salmonella strain was found in aquariums that hosted the family frog.
Amphibians (e.g., frog) or reptiles (e.g, turtle) have a high infection rate, and should be handled just as carefully as when you handle raw meat.
In 2007-2008 there was a multistate outbreak of salmonella due to pet-turtles. For more information you can read : What can be done to prevent turtle-associated salmonellosis. Or Human SalmonellaTyphimurium Infections Associated with Contact with Water Frogs
